Remember What Memorial Day Is About! Stampin’Up!®

Hello and Welcome! My name is JaNette Howard and I’m an Independent Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator in Burleson, Texas. Today’s card, Remember What Memorial Day Is About, remembers Memorial Day, the ultimate sacrifice for all men and women of each branch of service. May we never forget those who protect our freedom. This card features Painted Poppies & Peaceful Moments stamp sets by Stampin’Up!®. This holiday means more than ever, because my Grandson is overseas serving his country.

Firstly, pick Night of Navy cardstock, cut at 4 1/4″ x 11″ and score at 5 1/2″.

Secondly, take two (2) pieces of Basic White cardstock both cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Stamp both pieces with the field of poppy flowers, from the Painted Poppies stamp set, in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Thirdly, color with Real Red Stampin’ Blends and adhere one to the inside of the card. Using Blending Brushes, color the background using Balmy Blue, Pacific Point, Night Of Navy and Garden Green ink.

Fourthly, die cut the poppy with Real Red and Basic Black cardstock using the Poppy Moments Dies. Stamp the sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Basic White cardstock with an added layer of Night Of Navy cardstock.

Finally, die cut the stars from the Stitched Stars Dies on Basic White cardstock. Cut the triangles from Basic Black cardstock (2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ square, cut on the diagonal) and Night of Navy cardstock (2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ square, cut on diagonal). Adhere the stars to the Night of Navy cardstock and trim where needed, then adhere to the Basic Black and prop up using Foam Adhesive Sheets.

  1. Love the birdhouse card. Very cute. I like the way you arranged the bird house and branches on opposite corners.

The Memorial Day card takes my breath away, brings tears to my eyes. Being raised a military brat I very well know what this day is about. All gave some, SOME GAVE ALL, for our great USA and the freedoms we share. Kudos to you Pop! You gave your all. Thank you JaNette for this awesome card that even a non military man looked at it and knew this card was about America and Americans. A+
