Hello and Welcome! I call today’s card Geared Up Garage Birthday. Last night, I was ask to make a Birthday card for a Teen-ager who plays football and was getting his drivers license. As a card maker/crafter who doesn’t always have the stamps and things needed to make it easier for you think outside the box. Check out my latest idea.

Geared Up Garage Birthday – Layers

My Grandson’s school colors are, as you guessed it , Blue, White and Black. Starting with Basic Black card card stock (CS), I cut to 4 1/4″ x 11″ while scoring at 5 1/2″. For the 2nd layer, I used Night of Navy CS, cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Then I used Basic White CS for the 3rd layer, cut at 3 3/4″ x 5″. Finally, I used a strip of In Color designer specialty paper (DSP) off centered to the left.

Car and Football

Using the Geared Up Garage stamp set and Night of Navy CS, I stamped the car and die cut it out. I used the layering ovals dies with Early Expresso CS for the football shape and the Hammered Metal 3D embossing folder for the texture. Using the Basic White CS, I fussy cut the stripes and laces.

Pulling up a picture of my grandsons football jersey as a go by, I started with Night of Navy CS and fuzzy cut the shoulder stripes and the jersey number with the Playful Alphabet dies.

Geared Up Garage Birthday – Finished Card

For the sentiment, I used the new Messages Dies from the Geared Up Garage stamp set. For the inside of the card, I used the Stitched Whimsy Dies and the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Happy Thoughts stamp set.

My Grandson’s friend loved his card and Grammy saved the day once again! I vaguely remember the excitement of getting my DL at 16, lol. Now he has an indelible memory for his 16th birthday.
