Dragonflys with Dandy Garden DSP Stampin’Up!®

Hello and Welcome! For today’s cards, I am calling them Dragonflys with Dandy Garden DSP. Dragonflys are one of my favorite things. I love seeing them in my own garden and in a variety of colors.

What’s Your Favorite Color?

For today’s cards, I used the gorgeous Dandy Garden 6 x 6 designer series paper (DSP) as well as Misty Moonlight, Blackberry Bliss, Bumblebee, Mossy Meadow, Smokey Slate, Whisper White card stocks. All the card bases are standard A2 size (5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″) and scored at 4 1/4″. The 2nd layers are cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″. You will need this same size for the inside of your cards to write your message. The designer series paper is just different strips or squares of your choice.

I stamped and colored the dragonfly’s in coordinating colors of the card stock punched using the Dragonfly Punch. For added depth, I used the bone folder to break the fibers and curl the wings. Using Stampin’ dimensionals, I adhered the dragonflys to the card. Based on your preferences, how you attach your layers will depend on way that you want your card to open and stand.

Here’s a Clever Trick

Dragonflys – Card Closed

I cased this card idea from Rachel Tessman a few years ago, where I believe that she used butterflys in the same way that I am using dragonflys. I’ve used different stamps and colors. The card base is Basic White 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″. The Oh So Ombre DSP that can be found in the Sale a bration Jan – Feb catalog 2021. Inside the package are 4 different colors. I chose Bermuda Bay and cut a strip at 2″ x 4 1/4″.

After gluing the strip onto the card base, I stamped the flower image in Memento black ink. Then I stamped the dragonfly with Bermuda Bay ink on vellum, where I’d encourage you to let it dry or use your heat tool. Using the dragonfly punch, I punched it out as well as one in basic white. Using glue dots, I adhered the bodys together leaving the wings free to move. To make the small dragonfly, I punched it out in Bermuda Bay card stock. Using the Classic Label Punch I punched out both layers for the dragonfly’s wings to fit through.
